For the past 3 years, the folks at Southland Leisure Centre have been involved in discussions and learning about Building Sustainability through their voluntary participation in a pilot program called BOMA GO GREEN. As a result of this pilot program, Southland staff have worked with various business units in the Corporation, ie: Water Services, Energy Management Office, Infrastructure Services and Parks Operations. Each of these business units has had informative and educatational input on ways to approach sustainable building options.
We wanted to share some of these initiatives with you so that you can see that efforts are being made not only to improve the physical assets of our Centre, but attention is being paid to the environmental aspects that will help us become more sustainable in the future.
